YOUR ATTITUDE AFFECTS:

 

  1. Your PERSPECTIVE of life.

 

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”

 

“Watch your attitude. It’s the first thing people notice about you.”

 

(Romans 12:2)(NLT) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

 

  1. Your APPROACH to life.

 

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”

 

“Your attitude determines your direction”

 

(Ephesians 4:31-32)(NLT) 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

 

  1. Your SUCCESS in life.

(Ephesians 2:10)(NLT) For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

  1. Your UNITY WITH CHRIST.

 

Unity – n. the state of being united or joined as a whole.

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”

 

(Colossians 3:10)(NLT) Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

 

(2 Corinthians 5:17)(NIV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

 


A Christ-Like Attitude Is….. (Philippians 2:1-11)

 

  1. Fueled by GOD’S LOVE.

 

(Philippians 2:1a)(NLT) Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love?

 

  1. Driven by the HOLY SPIRIT.

 

(Philippians 2:1b)(NLT) “Any fellowship together in the Spirit?”

 

  1. TENDER and COMPASSIONATE.

 

(Philippians 2:1c)(NLT) “Are your hearts tender and compassionate?”

 

  1. Not looking for a FIGHT.

 

(Philippians 2:2)(NLT) “Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.”

 

  1. UNSELFISH.

 

(Philippians 2:3a)(NLT) “Don’t be selfish.”

 

  1. HUMBLE and CONSIDERATE.

 

(Philippians 2:3b-4) (NLT) “don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.4Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

 

  1. TEACHABLE and OBEDIENT.

 

(Philippians 2:5-11) (NLT) “5You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6Though he was God he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.7Instead, he gave up his divine privileges he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

 

9Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

 

Final Thought:

THINGS WE SHOULD KNOW:

 

  1. Satan is our GREATEST ENEMY.

 

(1 Peter 5:8)(NIV) Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

 

  1. Satan is daily DESTROYING FAMILIES.

 

(John 10:10)(NIV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

 

  1. Most are doing NOTHING ABOUT IT.

 

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” – Edmund Burke

 

WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

  1. WAKE UP spiritually.

(Ephesians 5:14-15) (NLT) 14This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper,
rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.

(Ephesians 6:12)(NLT) For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

 

  1. Choose to WALK WITH GOD.

(Genesis 6:8-9) (NLT) 8But Noah found favor with the LORD. 9This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.

(2 Corinthians 6:16)(NLT) For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

(John 15:5)(NIV) "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

  1. Provide a GODLY EXAMPLE.

 

(Titus 2:7)(NLT) And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.

 

(1 Peter 4:16)(ESV) Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

 

(1 Timothy 4:12)(NLT) ….Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

 

  1. Teach your children GOD’S WAY.

 

(Deuteronomy 6:5-9) (NLT) 5 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

 

(Proverbs 22:6)(NLT) Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.

 

  1. Seize every GOD WINDOW.

 

(Ephesians 5:16-18)(NLT) 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.18 Don’t be drunk with wine because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,

 

  1. PRAY CONSTANTLY about everything.

 

(1 Thessalonians 5:17)(NLT) “Never stop praying.”

 

(Philippians 4:6-7) (NLT) 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

 

(Romans 8:26-27) (NLT) 26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.

 

 

  1. Never quit GUARDING YOUR POST.

 

(Galatians 6:9) (NIV) Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

DEVOTION – determines your FOCUS, FUTURE, & FAITHFULNESS.

 

GOD CALLS US ALL TO LIVE:

 

  1. TOTALLY DEVOTED.

 

(Exodus 20:1-6) (NLT) 1Then God gave the people all these instructions:

“I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery.“You must not have any other god but me.

“You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.

 

 

(Acts 2:42-47) (NLT) 42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

*Most Christians have a DIVIDED LOYALTY.

(James 4:7-8) (NIV) 7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

 

  1. DAILY SURRENDERED.

 

(Luke 22:42)(NLT) Jesus prayed, “"Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine."

 

(Luke 9:23)(NLT) “Then Jesus said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”

 

*Most Christians practice CONVENIENT SURRENDER.

 

(Matthew 6:9-13) 9“Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. 10 May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today the food we need,12 and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. 13 And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

 

  1. SET APART.

 

 EKKLESIA – (Greek Word For Church) “CALL OUT”

 

(Hebrews 10:10)(GWT) We have been set apart as holy because Jesus Christ did what God wanted him to do by sacrificing his body once and for all.

 

(Matthew 5:14-16) (NLT) 14Jesus said, “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

 

 

*Most Christians strive to BLEND IN and never STAND OUT.

(Matthew 12:28-30) (NLT) 28Jesus was asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. 30And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’

(Proverbs 4:23)(NIV) “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

(Matthew 15:8)(NLT) Jesus says, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

(1 Samuel 16:7)(NLT) But the LORD said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by the outward appears, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

 

 

 

  1. Calls for ALL OR NOTHING.

 

(Matthew 6:24)(NLT) Jesus said, "No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

 

(Revelation 3:15-16) (NLT) 15“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other!16But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! 

 

  1. Calls for SACRIFICE.

 

(Matthew 16:24-26) (NLT) 24Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. 25If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. 26And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?

 

  1. Calls for RADICAL OBEDIENCE.

 

(Mark 1:16-20) (NLT) 16One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. 17Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” 18And they left their nets at once and followed him.

19A little farther up the shore Jesus saw Zebedee’s sons, James and John, in a boat repairing their nets.  20He called them at once, and they also followed him, leaving their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired men.

 

  1. Calls for a PERSONAL FAITH DECISION.

 

(Joshua 24:15)(NLT) But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD."

 

FINAL TRUTH: When you choose to become ALL IN God will TRANSFORM YOU.

 

(James 4:10)(NLT) Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

  1. God is STILL GOD.

 

(1 Peter 4:12-13) (NLT) 12Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. 

 

(Psalm 46:10)(NIV) He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

 

(Isaiah 55:8-9)(NIV) “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

 

  1. God is SPEAKING LOUDLY.

 

(Psalm 18:6)(NLT) But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.

(Jeremiah 29:13)(NIV) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

 

 

  1. God is STILL LOVE.

 

(1 John 4:8)(NIV) Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

 

(Romans 5:8)(NLT) But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

 

(Ephesians 3:17-19) (NIV) 17And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

 

(Romans 8:38-39) (NLT) 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.


  1. God is STILL THERE.

 

(Psalm 23) (NLT) 1The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.

2He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.

3He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid,

for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

5You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.

 

(Psalm 139:7-12) (NLT) 7I can never escape from your Spirit!   1. God is STILL WORKING.

 

(Romans 8:28)(NIV) And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

 

 

(Philippians 1:6)(NLT) And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

 

  1. God is GROWING US.

 

(James 1:2-4) (NLT) 2Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

 

(1 Peter 1:7)(NLT) These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold--though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

  1. God is GLORIFYING HIMSELF.

God is not DONE WITH YOU! He can and will still use you if you are
only willing.
A. THE SAND:
1. God is not interested in us faking any of this because HE KNOWS
US.
(Psalms 139:1-6) -
1You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
5You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
2. God is always WITH YOU.
(Psalms 139:7-16) -
7Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?

B. THE SUN:
1. God SEPARATED the light from the darkness.
(Genesis 1:3-5) - 3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was
light. 4God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light
from the darkness. 5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he
called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning – the
first day.
2. DARKNESS is very real.
(Ephesians 6:10-12) - 10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty
power. 11Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand
against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh
and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities against the
powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the
heavenly realms.
3. We light things up with GOD'S WORD.
(Psalms 119: 105) - Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my
path.
4. The Word says Jesus is THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
(John 14:6) - Jesus answered, “I am the way the truth and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through me.”
(John 1:3-5) - 3Through Him all things were made; without Him
nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life
was the light of all mankind. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the
darkness has not overcome it.
5. When Light hits the darkness, EVERYTHING BECOMES CLEAR.

Message: Key Elements To Following Christ

 

 

  1. Following Christ is a DECISIVE decision.

 

(Matthew 5:17-21) (NLT)17From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. 18One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. 19Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” 20And they left their nets at once and followed him.

 

21A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come, too. 22They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind.

 

Following Christ is a Decisive Decision that should dictate every other decision.

 

(Joshua 24:14-15)(NLT) 14 “So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. (Hebrews 12:1-3) (NLT) 1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. 3Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.

 

To keep following Christ you’ve got to pre-determine that come Hell or high water you’re going to follow Jesus.

 

  1. Following Christ is a DEVOTED decision.

 

(Matthew 6:24)(NLT) Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

 

(Acts 2:42-47) (NLT) 42ALL THE BELIEVERS DEVOTED THEMSELVES to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— 47all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

 

Devotion requires your whole heart and leads to total commitment.

 

 

 

 

  1. Following Christ is a DIVISIVE decision.

 

(Matthew 7:13-14)(NLT) Jesus said, 13 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. 14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.

 

Choosing to following Christ sets you apart from the majority of society.

 

(Matthew 10:22)(NIV) Jesus said, “You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

 

(2 Timothy 3:12-15) (NLT) 12Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived. 14But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15You have been taught the Holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.

 

 

  1. Following Christ is a DAILY decision.

 

(Luke 9:23) Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

 

Every day you have to choose to DIE TO SELF and

LIVE FOR CHRIST.

 


Never Forget:

Following Christ is not the EASIEST DECISION, but will prove to be the MOST REWARDING.

 

(James 1:12)(NLT) God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

  1. Never Changing Truth:

   

  1. We all SIN.

 

(Rom. 3:23)(NLT) For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

   

  1. We all BATTLE WITHIN.

 

(James 4:1)(NLT) What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?

   

  1. We all keep FALLING OFF TRACK.

 

(Romans 7:15)(NLT) I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.

 

  1. Life Falls Apart When:

 

  1. We think we’ve FIGURED IT OUT.

 

(Proverbs 14:12) (NLT) There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.

 

  1. We create our OWN AGENDA.

 

(Ephesians 5:17) Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

 

 

 

 

 

  1. We ride the SPIRITUAL FENCE.

  1. We attempt anything WITHOUT JESUS.

 

(John 15:5) (NIV) Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

 

III. The Journey Home Requires:

 

(Luke 15:11-32) (NLT) 11To illustrate the point further, Jesus told them this story: “A man had two sons. 12The younger son told his father, ‘I want my share of your estate now before you die.’ So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons.

13“A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living. 14About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. 15He persuaded a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. 16The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything.

17“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! 18I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’

20“So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. 21His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.’

22“But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. 23And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, 24for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.

25“Meanwhile, the older son was in the fields working. When he returned home, he heard music and dancing in the house, 26and he asked one of the servants what was going on. 27‘Your brother is back,’ he was told, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf. We are celebrating because of his safe return.’

28“The older brother was angry and wouldn’t go in. His father came out and begged him, 29but he replied, ‘All these years I’ve slaved for you and never once refused to do a single thing you told me to. And in all that time you never gave me even one young goat for a feast with my friends. 30Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the fattened calf!’

31“His father said to him, ‘Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours. 32We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”

 

  1. True BROKENESS.

We often must become totally broken before we realize our brokenness.

 

(Psalm 51:17) (NLT) The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.

 

 

 

 

  1. Spiritual AWAKENING.

 

(Luke 15:17)(NLT) “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!

 

(Eph. 5:14)(NLT) This is why it is said: "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

 

Until your spiritual eyes are wide open you will continue to sleep walk through life.

 

  1. Total SURRENDER.

 

(Luke 15:18-19) (NLT) 18I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’

 

Many people are spiritually stuck because they won’t get over their pride and surrender all to Jesus!

 

(James 4:7-10) (NLT) As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but favors the humble.” 7So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. 9Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

 

 

Closing Truth:

Coming home is just ONE STEP AWAY.
