Walk by Faith.

(2 Corinthians 5:7)(NIV) For we live by faith, not by sight.

Allow God To Work.

(Philippians 2:12-18) (NIV) 12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. 14Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky16as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. 17But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

Invite God Closer.

(Revelation 3:20)(NLT) "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”

(James 4:8)(NLT) Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

Trust God’s Timing.

(Proverbs 3:5-6) (NLT) 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

(Ecclesiastes 3:1)(NIV) There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

(Ecclesiastes 3:11)(NIV) He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Impact Others Now.

(Matthew 5:16)(KJV) Let your light SO shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Never Lose Hope.

(Galatians 6:9)(NLT) So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.

(1 Peter 1:3-9) (NLT) 3All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, 4and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 5And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 6So be truly glad. Glorify God Always.

  1. Study your MAKER’S MANUAL.

 

(Genesis 2:7)(KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

 

(2 Timothy 3:16-17)(NIV) 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

 

(Psalm 119:105)(NLT) Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

 

  1. Expect DISAPPOINTMENT.

 

(Matthew 6:33-34) (NLT) 33“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

 

(John 16:33)(NLT) Jesus said, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

 

  1. Remain TEACHABLE.

 

(1 Peter 5:5)(NLT)  …You who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

 

(Proverbs 12:1)(NLT) To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.

 

(Proverbs 9:9)(NLT) Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more.

  1. Walk with INTEGRITY.

  1. Seize the MOMENT.

  1. Trust GOD’S PLANS.

(Proverbs 19:21)(NIV) Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.

IN THIS LIFE:

 

  1. Pain is a REALITY.

 

  1. Pain SPEAKS LOUDLY.

 

  1. Pain must be PROCESSED.

 

"If you don't deal with it, it will deal with you."

 

WHEN THE PAIN RUNS DEEP:

 

  1. You have to GIVE IT TO GOD.

 

(1 Peter 5:7) (NIV)Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

 

(Psalm 55:22) (NIV)Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

 

(Psalm 18:2) (NIV)The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

 

  1. CONFESSION is healing.

 

(James 5:16) (NLT)Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

 

(James 5:16) (The Message) Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.

 

  1. Live in the NOW, not in the PAST.

 

(Philippians 3:13) (NLT)No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,

 

(1 John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness

 

(Ephesians 4:30-32) (NLT) 30And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.  31Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

 

  1. Only God can FULLY UNDERSTAND.

 

(Psalm 139:1-18) (NLT) 1O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. 3You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. 4You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. 5You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. 6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! 7I can never escape from your Spirit!  can never get away from your presence! 8If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. 9If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, 10even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. 11I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— 12but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.   1. Only Jesus can give LASTING PEACE.

  1. Healing is a PROCESS IN CHRIST.

 

(Isaiah 53:5) (NIV) But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

 

(Philippians 1:6) (NLT)And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

 

  1. Never does God WASTE OUR PAIN.

 

I am certain that I never did grow in grace one-half so much anywhere as I have upon the bed of pain. ~ Charles Spurgeon

 

I am not a theologian or a scholar, but I am very aware of the fact that pain is necessary to all of us. In my own life, I think I can honestly say that out of the deepest pain has come the strongest conviction of the presence of God and the love of God. ~ Elizabeth Elliot

 

“God never allows pain without a purpose in the lives of His children. He never allows Satan, nor circumstances, nor any ill-intending person to afflict us unless He uses that affliction for our good. God never wastes pain. He always causes it to work together for our ultimate good, the good of conforming us more to the likeness of His Son (see Romans 8:28-29). ~ Jerry Bridges

 

Pain is no evil, unless it conquers us.” ~ Charles Kingsley

 

(Romans 8:28) (NLT)And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 

 

FINAL THOUGHT: One day ALL PAIN WILL CEASE.

(Revelation 21:4)(NKJV) And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

  1. She fully embraced her GOD-GIVEN ROLE.

 

(Proverbs 22:6)(NKJV) Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

 

  1. She WALKED WITH GOD.

 

(John 15:5)(NIV) Jesus said, ““I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

 

(Proverbs 16:3)(NLT) Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.

 

  1. She LIVED BY EXAMPLE.

 

(Deuteronomy 6:5-9) (NIV) 5Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

 

  1. She LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY.

 

(1 Corinthians 13:1-8) (NLT) 1If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!

  1. Open your HEART.

 

(Isaiah 29:13)(NIV) The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

(Romans 10:9-10) (NIV) 9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

  1. How Does God Speak?

 

 

  1. God speaks through HIS WORD.

(Matthew 7:24-27) (NIV) 24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

 

(Romans 10:17)(KJV) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

 

  1. God speaks through HIS CREATION.

 

(Genesis 1:1-2) (NIV) 1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

 

(Psalm 19:1-4) (NIV) 1The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. 3They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. 4Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

 

(Romans 1:20)(NLT) For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse

For not knowing God.

 

  1. God speaks through HIS SPIRIT.

 

(1 John 4:13)(NLT) And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.

(John 14:16-18, 26) (NIV) 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

 

(Romans 8:26)(NLT) And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

  1. God speaks through OTHER PEOPLE.

 

(Proverbs 27:17)(NIV) As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

 

(2 Corinthians 5:20)(NLT) So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, "Come back to God!"

(Romans 10:14)(NLT) But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

 

  1. God speaks through CIRCMSTANCES.

 

(Genesis 6:12-13) (NAS) 12God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth. 13Then God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth.

 

(Jonah 1:17)(NIV) Now the LORD provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

 

(Acts 9:18)(NIV) Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,

(All because God used circumstance to wake him up)

 

  1. God speaks through ANGELS.

 

(Job4:15-16) (NLT)15A spirit swept past my face, and my hair stood on end.16The spirit stopped, but I couldn’t see its shape. There was a form before my eyes. In the silence I heard a voice…”

 

(Luke 2:8-14) (NLT) 8That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. 9Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, 10but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! 12And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

(Hebrews 13:2)(NLT) Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

  1. God speaks through DREAMS.

 

(Job 33:15)(NLT) He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds.

 

(Acts 2:17)(NLT) In the last days,' God says, 'I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.

 

CONCLUSION:

God speaks in MANY WAYS the question is ARE YOU LISTENING.

(Psalm 143) (NLT)

1 Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous.

2 Don’t put your servant on trial, for no one is innocent before you. 3My enemy has chased me. He has knocked me to the ground and forces me to live in darkness like those in the grave. 4I am losing all hope; I am paralyzed with fear.

5I remember the days of old. I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done.

6I lift my hands to you in prayer. I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. 7Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die.

8Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. 9Rescue me from my enemies, LORD; I run to you to hide me.

10Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.

4. Seek God as if your LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

5. Put all your TRUST IN JESUS.

6. Let the Spirit of God LEAD YOU FORWARD.

  1. The Holy Spirit opens our SPIRITUAL EYES.

 

(John 16:8-9) (ESV) 8Jesus said, “And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 

 

(Acts 2:36-39) (NLT) 36“So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” 37Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39This promise is to you, and to your children, and even to the Gentiles—all who have been called by the Lord our God.” 

 

(1 Corinthians 2:1-5) (NLT) 1When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. 2For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. 3I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. 4And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. 5I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.

 

(John 4:24)(NLT) For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

  

  1. The Holy Spirit lives INSIDE EVERY BELIEVER.

 

(Romans 8:9-11) (NLT) But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

 

(2 Corinthians 5:17) “If anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation. The old has gone and the new has come.”

 

(1 Corinthians 3:16)(ESV) Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

 

  1. The Holy Spirit EMPOWERS US.

 

(Acts 1:8)(NLT) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

 

(2 Timothy 1:7)(NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

 

  1. The Holy Spirit TEACHES US.

 

(John 14:26)(ESV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will TEACH YOU ALL THINGS….

  

(1 Corinthians 2:10-14) (NLT) 10But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 13When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. 14But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

 

 

  1. The Holy Spirit REMINDS US.

 

(John 14:26)(ESV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things AND BRING TO REMEMBRANCE ALL THAT I HAVE SAID TO YOU.

 

  1. The Holy Spirit SETS US APART.

 

(Romans 15:16)(NLT) I am a special messenger from Christ Jesus to you Gentiles. I bring you the Good News so that I might present you as an acceptable offering to God, made holy by the Holy Spirit.

 

  1. The Holy Spirit GUIDES US.

 

(John 16:13)(NLT) When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

(Galatians 5:16-26) (NLT) 16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Victory In Jesus - Easter - 04-16-2017

(Romans 8:37)(NLT) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

I. Some Facts About The Cross

A. Jesus’ birth, crucifixion, and resurrection were FORETOLD YEARS BEFORE.

(Acts 2:14-23a)(NIV) 14 Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd, “Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this. 15 These people are not drunk, as some of you are assuming. Nine o’clock in the morning is much too early for that. 16 No, what you see was predicted long ago by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.18 In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy. 19 And I will cause wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below—blood and fire and clouds of smoke.

20 The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and glorious day of the LORD arrives. 21 But everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.’

22 “Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23a This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge….

B. You NAILED JESUS to the CROSS.

(Acts 2:23b)(NIV) This man (JESUS) was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.

(John 15:13-14) (NIV) 13Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command.

C. Jesus’ Resurrection was EYEWITNESSED.

(Acts 2:24-32) (NIV) 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25 David said about him: “‘I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, 27 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay. 28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’ 29 “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. 32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.

D. The Cross calls for a REPSONSE.

(Acts 2:36-41) (NIV) 36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

II. How Should We Respond To The Cross?

A. You must BELIEVE IN JESUS.

(Acts 2:36) (NIV) 36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

(John 3:16)(NLT) “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

(1 Corinthians 1:18) (NIV) For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

B. You must REPENT OF SIN.

(Acts 2:37-38a) (NIV) 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “REPENT….”

(Romans 3:23)(NLT) For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

(1 John 1:9)(NLT) But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

C. You must CONFESS JESUS IS LORD.

(Romans 10:9)(NLT) If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

(Acts 2:38b-41) (NIV) 38….be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this
corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

III. What Victory Is Ours Through Jesus Christ?

A. We have victory OVER SIN. (1 Timothy 2:5-6) (NLT) 5For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. (John 8:36)(NIV) So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

B. We have victory OVER DEATH.
(1 Corinthians 15:55-57)(NLT) 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

C. We have victory IN THIS LIFE. (John 16:33)(NIV) "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (Romans 8:11)(NIV) The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. D. We have victory FOR ETERNITY. (Romans 6:23)(NIV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (John 11:25)(NLT) Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. (Romans 8:37)(NLT) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

When It Comes To Time:

A. No one is born with UNLIMITED DAYS.

(Psalm 144:4)(ESV) Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.

(Psalm 90:12) (NIV) Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

B. When it’s GONE ITS GONE.

(Isaiah 43:18-19) (NIV) 18“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing!

C. Every MOMENT MATTERS.

(Romans 14:12)(NIV) So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

(2 Corinthians 5:10)(NIV) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

(Hebrews 9:27)(KJV) it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Making The Most Of Your Time

1. Choose to live each day to the FULLEST.

(John 10:10)(NIV) Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the fullest.”
(Ephesians 5:15-21) (ESV) 15Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

(James 4:13-17) (NLT) 13Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” 14How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” 16Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil. 17Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

2. Make sure your soul is ETERNALLY PREPARED.

(Mark 8:36-38) (NLT) Jesus said, “36And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? 37Is anything worth more than your soul? 38If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

(1 John 5:11-13) (NIV) 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

3. WALK CLOSELY with God.

(1 Corinthians 1:9)(NIV) God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

(Genesis 5:8)(NIV) Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

(Genesis 6:9)(NIV) This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.

(James 4:7-10) (NIV) 7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

4. Live with INTENTIONAL OBEDIENCE like Jesus.

(Philippians 2:1-8) (NIV) 1Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. 5In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

5. Live ETERNAL MINDED.

(Matthew 6:19-21) (NIV) 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

6. Trust God’s PERFECT TIMING.

(Ecclesiastes 3:1-11) (NIV) 1There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. 9What do workers gain from their toil? 10I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

7. Seek to FINISH FAITHFUL.

(Philippians 3:13-14) (NIV) 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 4:6-8) (NIV) 6For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
